Leeds United have reportedly made an enquiry on the possibility of signing Sporting Lisbon midfielder MatheusNunes this summer. Portuguese media outlet Record revealed that Leeds United manager Jesse Marsch is keen to boost his midfield options with the signing of Nunes from immediate past Portuguese top flight league champions Sporting Lisbon.

Marsch and Leeds United want to strengthen their squad this summer after losing the services of two of their key players namely Kalvin Philips and Raphinha. The two players contributed their own quota as Leeds United survive relegation on the final day of the season. Leeds United have already signed six players in the quest to boost the quality in their squad and Portugal international Nunes could be the seventh summer signing if they decide to pursue a move for him.

Leeds United are not the only Premier League team linked with Nunes. Apart from Leeds, Premier League clubs suchas Liverpool, Chelsea, Fulham and Newcastle United have also been touted as possible transfer destination forNunes.

In midfield, Marsch has already strengthened his squad with Tyler Adams and Marc Roca. Spaniard Roca is a defensive midfielder, while American star Tyler Adams is a versatile midfielder. Marsch is keen to add an attacking midfielder likeNunes to his squad.

The aforementioned media outlet disclosed that Leeds United have already asked about the availability of Nunes. They have gone far in comparison to Premier League rivals Liverpool who are yet to reach the enquiry stage.Journalist James Pearce is a Liverpool correspondent for The Athletic and he recently revealed that the Reds won’t be pushing for a transfer for the 23-year-old this summer. Chelsea have also been discussed as a possible destination for the Portuguese midfielder, but the West Londoners are focused on signing a new defender at the moment.
