West Ham United are on a three-match winless run aftera late Brighton goal denied them the win in their latest league game. The Hammers were on the way to securing an important win before they were stopped by a superb overhead strike fromFrench striker Neal Maupay.

West Ham United stunned the Premier League when they stopped the long unbeaten run by Liverpool via a 3-2 win at home. The Reds had started the season with a ten-match unbeaten run in the league and had played 16 games in all competitions without defeat before they travelled to London to take on the Hammers. Spanish midfielder Pablo Fornals and Frenchman Kurt Zouma scored in the second half to establish a 3-1 lead for West Ham United after the free-kick goal from Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold cancelled out the opening goal of the game for West Ham United when Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker put through his own net. Liverpool striker DivockOrigi came off the bench to score a second goal for his team but it was not enough to avoid defeat.

Since the home win over Liverpool, West Ham United have not won a game in the Premier League. They have picked up one point from the three league games played in the aftermath of the Liverpool game with a record of one draw and two losses. In the first of those games, Mexican international Raul Jimenez scored the only goal of the match in the second half as Wolves beat the Hammers 1-0 at home. For the second game, IlkayGundogan and Manchester City substitute Fernandinho scored to give the hosts a two-goal advantage before West HamUnited pulled one back in added time through Argentine midfielder Manuel Lanzini for a 2-1 defeat. Lanzini produced the best goal of the game but it turned out to be just consolation.

In their third league game after the Liverpool win, the 89th minute goal from French striker Maupay rescued a 1-1 draw for Brighton at West Ham United after the hosts had taken the lead through Czech Republic international star Tomas Soucek in the fifth minute. The Seagulls are now unbeaten in nine Premier League games against West Ham United.
