Dutchman Steven Bergwijn has been ruled out of the Wolves game in the Carabao Cup this week due to injury. The former PSV Eindhoven winger will miss the Wolves game for Tottenham Hotspur after suffering ankle sprain in his last game in the colours of the North London team.

Bergwijnpicked up the injury during the first half of the UEFA Europa Conference League clash at the home of Rennes on Thursday. The Dutch international was a major casualty for Spurs during the game which ended in a 2-2 draw. In his pre-match presser on Tuesday ahead of the visit to his former club, Spurs boss NunoEspirito Santo revealed that Dutch player Bergwijn will miss the game and that he’s a doubt for the North London Derby clash at Arsenal on Sunday.

Nuno and his players need a big result on the domestic scene after two straight defeats in the league ahead of the Wolves game. Tottenham Hotspur have lost their last two matches in the Premier League by a heavy scoreline. Spurs were beaten 3-0 in the London Derby encounter with hosts Crystal Palace thanks to the goals from Ivorian attacker WilfriedZaha and Frenchman Odsonne Edouard (two goals) and the scoreline was repeated when Spurs entertained Chelsea in another London Derby meeting with the likes of Brazilian international Thiago Silva, French national team player N’GoloKante and German international Antonio Rudiger getting on the scoresheet for the Blues.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Nuno and his players would be hoping to record another win at Wolves having already beaten the midlands club in the league this season. England international Dele Alli was the matchwinner when the two teams met last month thanks to his first half penalty for a foul committed by Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa. A place in the Carabao Cup fourth round is up for grabs when the two teams meet at the Molineux again this season on Wednesday night.
