Liverpool have reportedly identified 25-year-old Rennes forward Martin Terrier as the ideal replacement for Sadio Mane. According to a report from Daily Mirror, Liverpool have set their sights on Martin Terrier. It appears the Rennes forward has emerged as the ideal replacement option for Sadio Mane, with Jurgen Klopp hoping to snap the 25-year-old up in the upcoming summer transfer window.

A left-winger by trade, Terrier currently plies his trade with Rennes. He has a solid track record in France, having played for clubs such as Lyon, LOSC Lille and Strasbourg. Terrier already has 162 appearances in the French top-flight to his name, scoring 44 goals while mustering 17 assists. While those numbers might not seem all too convincing, 21 of those goals have come in the recently concluded 2021/22 campaign. With 21 goals and four assists in 37 Ligue 1 matches, the 25-year-old French forward was one of the most productive players in Europe’s top-five leagues, helping Rennes seal a top-four finish in the league.

Terrier’s performances have improved leaps and bounds since his move to Rennes. Aside from his productivity, the forward has impressed the onlookers with his technical versatility and dynamism, making him an appealing target for a club like Liverpool.

Liverpool’s interest in Terrier stems from the uncertainty surrounding the future of Sadio Mane. The Senegalese international has been an excellent servant for the Reds over the years, but his time at Anfield appears to have come to an end, with the player recently being linked with a move to Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.

Bayern have identified Mane as the ideal man to replace Robert Lewandowski. The Pole, in turn, has been subjected to a move to FC Barcelona. All of this has put Liverpool on high alert, with the Merseyside giants now scouring the market for a new attacker who can replace Mane in the years to come.
