The representative of Caglar Soyuncu has confirmed that the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool are in the running to secure the services of Turkey international. The 22-year-old is currently plying his trade for German outfit Freiburg but he has been widely tipped to leave the Bundesliga outfit during the summer.

Speaking exclusively to Turkish Football, the player’s agent confirmed that the Gunners are leading the pursuit of the centre-back with head of recruitment Sven Mislintat keeping an eye on the defender since his time with Borussia Dortmund. Meanwhile, the representative hinted that there is further interest from four other league clubs including Liverpool.

He said: “Sven Mislintat has been keen on Caglar since he was at Borussia Dortmund. He first scouted him back in Germany. Sven is interested in Caglar, there are concrete talks, all that remains is for a fee to be agreed. We will see what happens next. What I will say regarding the Liverpool link is that there were four to five Premier League clubs scouting him over the international break.”

Meanwhile, Mustafa Dogru also confirmed that there has been interest from Atletico Madrid and several German clubs but his client is said to have a particular desire to head to the Premier League with his style of play suiting teams in the English top-flight. Soyuncu recently completed a trio of international friendlies for Turkey and he is now expected to discuss his future before heading into vacation.

Soyuncu has been regarded as one of the most promising defenders in the German top-flight and this has indeed impressed Mislintat, who has been appreciated for spotting emerging talents before others. As such, the north Londoners are likely to remain front-runners in the player’s pursuit, though they may remain reluctant to match the defender’s £35m price tag this summer.
